Post #81 Winter is Coming...

Well I live in Canada and it's way past this lovely fall look outside.  It's downright winter!  Autumn went very fast this year and since I was busy while it was going by I thought I'd recreate it in my Second Life.

Collabor88 has some great stuff this round.  I really bought a lot of things and can't wait to show everything off - and not in the last week like usual, lol. This post features a lovely tunic (which I picked up in a few colors) and a gorgeous skin from Glam Affair.

I got this hair from Wasabi Pills last winter.  I am so happy to finally be able to wear it!

 Tonight was the first night of my "upgrading alegbra for those who were into art at highschool" class.  This made me want to dress very smart when I got home.  Picked up this awesome purse from Auxiliary (the new brand formerly known as Illusory & Aura), and a sweet jacket from Fri.Day for FLF.

The stores I shop at now are very different than the ones I shopped at a year ago.  And the year before that.
I found this old Emery jacket in my inventory (well this was a full outfit), and I thought omg, I remember when I first started getting into prims, I spent thousands on clothes.  Now I am a mesh junkie and really, prims are not bad.  I mean sometimes they were annoying and stuck into your body in strange places and mesh has it's own issues if it doesn't fit right.

I remember when I picked up the Ganesh dress.  It was in my fave color and I thought it was cool.  It still is. I like Nylon Outfitters, they have funky clothes there.  I see they do have a mesh dress.  I love their jewelery.

COCO was another store that had awesome primmy clothes.  I love these riding boots.  They have another pair of thigh high flat boots I really like.  I was thinking of just deleting all my prim clothes but I don't think I will.  Some I will.  But some outfits are too awesome to discard just because of a new bandwagon.  This is a mesh free zone right here!  LoL.

Post #58 Updating a White Dress...

I think I've mentioned before that I own a lot of Truth hair.  This one is fairly older, and I really wore it a lot with sluttier dresses to 'class them up'.  Like this one I have here circa 2010.  Now to me a 'slutty' dress is basically a short dress that shows cleavage.  I have nothing against slutty dresses, I just need to add a serious element to them.  Can't look too provacative.  I do enough of that in real life, so in my second life I'm right prim and proper.  Now you know why I'm so boring!

So I had an older skin and hair on this outfit, and the dress was not mesh of course.  The shoes are prim Maitreya shoes and I still use them.  I SALVAGED THEM!  

My new version I just made some small adjustments to.  Got rid of the other jewelery for one.  I don't even know where to get those pieces or if they even still exist.  The dress mooooves with me.  And the hair is brand new at the hair fair.

I don't find this dress slutty at all.  The hair is.  Just kidding.  The Glam Affair skin is my equal for Dutch Touch 'agewise'.  I feel both skins make me look like I'm in my early thirties.

So this is my 'updated look'.  New mesh wear, new hair & skin.

A lot of my main pieces are from July's Collabor88, and the theme this month is bleached.  I am really pleased with that as I love the whole worn white shabby chic thing.  This top from Tres Blah is fantastic and has a matching long skirt which is really nice too!  I could have worn them together but that seemed too obvious, so I paired it up with the offering from Kyoot, a sexy minidress (that kind of became the skirt to this  outfit).

I have been waiting to wear the Maitreya hair/hat for a long time but didn't have anything natural enough.  You gotta be flowy and free to wear this hair, I mean there are even wisps of hair flowing on the sides, that's pretty great.   LOVE the new skin from Glam at Collabor88.  I kinda wish I had not blown 1000L on the Giselle skin when I did, I HAD to have it and now I see two different models for 70L at The Dressing Room, GRRRR.  I have no patience.  Oh by the way Glam Affair IS having a 50% sale off right now, might go check out some older skins (and have them show up for sale right after I buy them, of course!)

This is the whole Kyoot dress.  It's one of those system clothing outfits with the mesh middle for between the legs.  I had to do a bit of photoshopping for this picture as the shadows really made it obvious, but if you have your windlight settings set for prims it blends really well.  I'm still looking at a full mesh tight dress, I think I found one at Epoque, if they still have their sale I'm gonna scoop one up.  There is also one at Cold Logic I like too, so I might also invest in a fatpack of those dresses.

...more reason to spend lindens!

 I do love these pants.  I've been meaning to blog them for a while but with all the new releases and my other ADHD projects I just never really got around to it.  Maitreya has seven sets of these, but I just bought the super colorful ones.  They come in plain leggings and with these wicked weird built in shoes.  When I wear them I feel like using my freaky poses!

Maitreya is such good quality.  My favorite mesh stores would have to be Maitreya, Celoe, Mon Tissu & Cold Logic.  Cold Logic kinda being more of the standard wear of the bunch.  Kind of stuff you could pick up going into a major department store.  The others are a bit more like smaller cooler stores.  I love the fine detail in them.  Yes the do cost a lot more than most mesh but you get what you pay for.  When I put on my darn cyber pants I want to see seams and wrinkles!

I was going to blog this outfit with a pair of Aleida pants I bought a long time ago.  I zoomed on over there to see if they still had them and noticed the had a big closing out sale going on, and my old pants where gone.  So I thought what the heck, and bought me a few pairs of mesh dress pants for super cheap!

Hey they matched my hair!  I got pink shoes (also at the close out sale) and teleported to Tram.  I love their build it's absolutely gorgeous and I like to take pictures there.

I do like this tube top/jacket set from Cold Logic, but I don't wear it so often.  I bought the fatpack, but I kinda regret it now, as I think the other fatpack set colors are nicer.  And it's kind of over dressy for me.  I think in the future I can see myself wearing the jacket with different tops and the tubetop by itself or with a different jacket.  Just to mix it up.  The skin I got at Collabor88  is awesome of course, and the pink eyeshadow matched the outfit really well.

I felt like making some crazy daring outfit to go with my new mesh shorts.  Because really I couldn't find anything that really went with them.  Being leather, I knew I had to look pretty glam and stuff, which is not a look I really wear.  I don't know if this is glammy or not.  LoL.  But I had fun smooshing clothes old and new together.

 I bought this gold bikini/glove/leggings set at The Sea Hole a while ago when they had a half off sale.  I actually thought it went pretty good with the shorts.  I like the two colors together.  Like earthy with some water thrown in.  The skin was really nice, you can get it at Collabor88 in three different makeups.  Glam Affair = glam look...amirite?

Great rings at The Dressing Room Blue.  Had a lot of fun changing the colors on them.  Good waste of 10  minutes.  The necklace I'm excited about as I lurve Kosh to death.

 Last week I bought this cute little mesh outfit from Cold Logic.  I've been reading a lot about how some mesh items 'bend' weird, so I took this item out for a test run on my yoga mat.  Except for the little stretch in pattern you see there in the leg, it bent really nice and I could do all my moves without looking super twisted and deformed.  Cold Logic is good quality mesh, this is my conclusion (like I already didn't know!)

I got this "Rehab Retreat" from Cheeky Pea.  I kinda giggle at the name.  I think, when they mean 'rehab' do they mean like drug or alcohol rehab?  Or 'rehab' like you busted your neck doing a bad yoga pose and this is a gentle rehab type set of yoga poses.  I do think too much.  I also think this is one of the most relaxing things I've ever watched my avatar do besides dance in silks on my sofa (yes I watched myself do this and got mesmerized by the flowy skirt and probably my physics).  Anyways, it's pretty cool and a lovely add to any abode, whether you twist your mesh wearing body or not.

I bought the feet from Slink, took me long enough.  I was pretty content to run around in bare feet but then I started seeing peeps wearing these cute sandals and when I went to buy them I realized that you had to have the feet too.  So I splurged and bought them.  I'm pretty happy.  The only two things I didn't really like were that the backs of the ankles were darker than the front of the ankle (the foot fit like a charm though, my goodness, it was awesome).  So I matched the skin in the front, but when i turned around it was a bit darker and you could see the line.  They give you socks to blend with I'll have to figure those out further, because they looked strange on me.  The other thing was my toenails had a rim of red around them.  It made me feel like I had inflamed toes.  Not a big deal as I dont sit and stare at my toes for hours.

Other than that I'm feeling cyber relaxed and callllm.....

Post # 35 Glam Affair Skin

I splurged the other day on the new Giselle skin by Glam affair.  I had checked a demo because I had seen it reviewed on Gogo's blog and there seemed to be some issues.  When I put it on it actually didn't look too bad on me!  Perhaps my computer is less sensitive to colors or something but I matched pretty well.  I was really impressed with the nails.  Yes, such a small thing, but they looked really good.  I have a lot of poses that have my hands in strange positions and when I wear nails they never follow the hand.  So yeah, I didn't even use any of those poses here haha, but I will in the future, defo!  Jeez I have big hands because I used to buy a lot of Candy Nail and their sizes were always 20, and that's what my hands are, but my avatar got smaller over time and now I may be suffering a case of man hands haha.

My friend and I were messing around trying on mesh demos and she brought up an interesting dilemma, mesh jeans and boots.  They don't seem to go together too well.  I tried on the skinniest pair I had and put on a pair of boots and sure enough the pants were sticking out the sides.  I remembered the legwarmers at G.Fields that I saw a couple of weeks ago and thought that might work.  They did match pretty well, there were a few sticky outy spots but both of us girls bought a pair and after some fancy ankle fixin' we got it to look 'bootish', lol.

I blogged this top from Cold Logic before and I had to do it again in green.  I love this top.  It just looks so different and real.  The new hair I picked up from Elikatira worked really well with the outfit too.  I'm loving this look, even if it's a bit 'plain'....

It's hip to be square..(watching American Psycho while writing this haha)...
